Description

Objective

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Assistant will work alongside and be supervised on a day-to day basis by the Compliance Analyst, and will assist with monitoring and implementing the firm's risk and anti-money laundering procedures.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct New Client and Matter conflict checks;
  • Advising fee earners on any potential commercial or legal conflict issues;
  • Conducting Client and Matter risk assessments in-line with AML regulations;
  • Identifying and informing the Senior Compliance Analyst on risk or conflict issues as they arise;
  • Review retainer Letters for consistency and compliance;
  • Assist with the administration of the firms Risk, Data Protection, Gifts and Entertainment registers;
  • Monitor compliance with the Firm's file closure procedure;
  • Deal with general compliance queries and administration;
  • Assist the Senior Compliance Analyst and Compliance Manager with their duties and responsibilities;
  • Assist where applicable with claims and complaints where there are compliance issues;
  • Keep up to date on all changes to SRA and AML regulations;
  • Provide general Compliance support across the firm.

Person Specification

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Previous risk and compliance experience within the legal sector
  • Good knowledge of AML requirements
  • Knowledge of the CMS Aderant would be advantageous
  • Ability to work with confidence and credibility
  • Experience of working with Partners
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of how to research complex legal matters and using online legal databases
  • Excellent analytical, written and numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Ability to create and nurture relationships at all levels
  • Proactive and approachable
