role so we are looking for candidates who have a real passion and
interest in privacy, data and technology. Candidates should be used
to keeping up with developments in the world of privacy and data

development as we are looking for individuals to help drive the
growth of the practice and develop client relationships. Data
protection and technology and are significant growth areas for the
firm and this role represents a significant career opportunity for
the right candidate.
Strong advisory skills are
essential together with a pragmatic and commercial manner. This role
will involve lots of direct client contact, so it is very important
the candidate has good interpersonal skills. Candidates who have
experience working in the IT/data protection team of a reputable
firm are particularly welcome as we are keen for the successful
candidate to be able to 'hit the ground' running. We are also open
to meeting candidates currently working inhouse provided that their
current role and/or experience is appropriate and they have the
necessary skills to perform the role.
Examples of the anticipated
type of work are set out below:
Drafting a variety of data
protection compliance documentation (such as privacy notices, data
protection policies and associated GDPR accountability documentation).
Drafting and negotiating data
processing agreements and data protection clauses within other
agreements. Prior experience or knowledge of the various/typical
negotiation points in these types of agreements/clauses is
important for the role.
Advising on individual rights
requests (subject access requests and erasure requests etc) as
well as international transfer issues (knowledge of the various
regulatory developments and cases in the field of international
transfers will be expected).
Data monetisation and the
data protection aspects of ecommerce.
Data privacy in the context
of advertising/marketing (e.g. ePrivacy/GDPR compliance as well as
industry self-regulatory developments in the context of
programmatic advertising and digital marketing). Prior experience,
knowledge or interest in adtech and digital marketing would be
particularly welcome as this constitutes a significant proportion
of our data protection advice.
Advising on data breaches.
Please note that this role is primarily non-contentious -
therefore advice on data breaches will tend to be at the
preliminary stage and advising on risk management and/or
notification requirements etc. However, if the successful
candidate has the requisite interest and/or expertise there may be
the opportunity to collaborate with our data litigation team on
contentious data breaches and subject access requests.
