We work with innovative companies, challengers and disrupters to navigate the problems and opportunities they encounter throughout their business lifecycle.

We guide them through the start-up process, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, exits and listings on the public markets, giving insightful board-level and corporate governance advice borne from our deep and broad experience.

We help our clients navigate not just the present, but the future; anticipating regulatory change, the impact of evolving technologies and the pressures of a dynamic landscape of culture, governance and innovation. We work closely with teams across Mishcon allowing us to support our clients with strategic advice and market leading solutions, including in areas such as cyber risk, ESG and reputation management.

From emerging companies to market-leading business, our clients compete in fast moving and innovative industries including software, deeptech, biotech, digital communications, life sciences, healthtech and financial services. We also advise some of the leading innovators and operators in more traditional sectors such as real estate, hospitality, retail and sport.

Our Emerging Companies and Venture Capital teams have extensive experience in advising businesses at all stages of their life cycle (from early stage investment to exit), as well as acting for venture capitalists, angel investors, syndicates and institutional investors (including investment funds specialising in seed capital, venture capital and growth equity). The teams also advise on transactions with universities and research organisations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with due diligence, transaction management, preparing ancillary documents, managing signing and documents lists, and other transactional support work.
  • Independently running electronic signature collection processes as part of large corporate transactions.
  • Preparing daily to-do-lists and action points for transactional teams.
  • Ensuring that all records, both paper and electronic, are filed and maintained.
  • Attending client meetings where required. Recording attendance notes and typing up detailed note for file.
  • Liaising with clients and colleagues in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Liaising with other departments as and when required.
  • Maintaining client contact details on CRM (Interaction) database.
  • Providing administrative support including photocopying, scanning, and organising documents for submission.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly bills, including reviewing billing guides, updating narratives and drafting billing emails/letters and supporting the team with debt management.
  • Being an integral part of a high-performance and collaborative team.

Skills/Experience

  • Previous paralegal experience would be beneficial, but isn't necessary.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Dynamic and driven with an ability to work independently with initiative, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload and prioritise deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Personable and confident, able to build relationships with partners/ key stakeholders.
  • Resilient and calm under pressure.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach.
  • Pro-active and takes initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS Packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Document Management Systems is an advantage.
  • Experience with Docusign is an advantage.
