Job Title Senior Financial Analyst

Description

As the Senior Financial Analyst, this role will be responsible for producing the monthly board reports for the MDR Group and providing an in-depth analysis of actual vs budget. This will include writing commentary and highlighting regular and relevant movements and fluctuations, which is fit for purpose for board planning and decision making. This will involve working closely with the Planning and FP&A team, as well as the Financial Accounting team in supporting them with their reporting requirements.

The individual will work closely with the Head of Group Performance to drive best practice and process improvements. Strong technical accounting skills are critical along with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across the business and be able to interpret financial data to business leaders. This is a hands-on role that will grow and evolve as the business continues to expand.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the production of the monthly board report summarising financial performance and analysis against budget, forecast and prior year with key insights.
  • Present the flash and board report to senior executives, including the Group CFO.
  • Scope and design performance reporting which provides the Board and senior stakeholders with the key performance indicators and analysis to measure the performance against strategic drivers.
  • Peer review and challenge of the numbers, liaising with senior stakeholders where required.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the firm's financial performance across all areas of the business.
  • Support the Finance Business Managers with monthly reporting requests and ad hoc queries.
  • Report on all aspects of business performance including revenue, profit, working capital and also non-financial measures.
  • Work collaboratively with the business and finance department to define the necessary inputs to produce the required reports.
  • Drive change and lead on process automation for board reporting.
  • Supporting ad hoc projects and requests.

Skills/Experience

  • Technical accounting and financial expertise to model the impact of transactions under global accounting standards and policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management and the ability to present complex finance transactions in a clear and concise way to senior stakeholders, Board and business heads.
  • Technically capable qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, or equivalent).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders, providing technical and commercial support, comfortable challenging senior leaders of the business.
  • Process improvement experience.
  • Experience with producing board reports.
  • Strong visualisation abilities (mainly in PowerPoint).
  • Anaplan experience desirable.
