The Responsible Business Team is responsible for integrating sustainability and ethical practices into the firm's operations, and ensuring meaningful impact within the communities we serve.The team collaborates closely with the EDI team and with various departments to align business practices with the firm's commitment to responsible and sustainable growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data Management

  • Capture, organise, and implement GHG related data from multiple internal and external sources within the carbon accountancy software and ESG dashboard.
  • Managing internal and external relationships for data collection through the collaboration with internal stakeholder leads. Identify any opportunities for improvements and efficiency in data capturing and reporting process.

Reporting

  • Collate sustainability data across the firm for various reporting requirements, including annual GHG reports, Legal Charter 1.5 reports, Net Zero Lawyers Alliance reports, SECR reports, departmental KPIs, and supplier reports.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in Environmental practices, policies and regulations for reporting compliance.

Working Group Coordination

  • Managing and running the admin support to organise and manage the internal Environmental Taskforce and Environmental Leads group, as well as any other future environmental related groups.
  • Distributing event details to internal and external attendees as well as taking and dispersing notes.

Admin Support

  • Admin support for engaging with the firm's external sustainability initiatives and their requirements (The Legal Charter 1.5, Net Zero Lawyers Alliance, Legal Sustainability Alliance,BFP Net Zero Pledge)

Partnership Management

  • Admin support to organise and engage sustainability partnerships within the firm (Camden Clean Air, Dream for Trees and future partnerships).

Resource Management

  • Admin support to provide and maintain resources for the Academy on the firm's sustainability commitments (employee education, training, communication, and onboarding).
  • Monitoring and updating internal environmental policies under the supervision of the Sustainability Manager.

Comms

  • Drafting updates on project milestones for internal distribution or external publication via the firm's website or social media channels.
  • Drafting updates to the environmental Mishcon Knowledge pages / opportunities.

Accreditation Management

  • Manage the working group for our ISO 14001 accreditation and any future environmental accreditations including meeting organisation and note taking, under the supervision of the Sustainability Manager.

Skills/Experience

In addition to the above candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Critical reasoning with clear ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
  • Experience with carbon data and GHG reporting (specifically Scope 1-3 collection and analysis), the SBTi guidance, and other environmental regulations, standards, and frameworks.
  • Good data management and excel skills.
  • Understanding of ISO accreditation systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
  • Very good written skills, able to produce good quality first drafts.
  • A strategic and creative thinker capable of identifying, developing and gaining support for appropriate opportunities.
  • Proactive and self-sufficient with the ability to take ownership and manage certain tasks with limited guidance.
  • Personable and confident, able to build relationships with partners/ key stakeholders.

A flexible and can-do approach, willing to provide varied support across various different departments when required.
