The team provides business insight
into prospective and current clients to enhance the firm's knowledge
of industries and sectors as well as to identify issues affecting the
firm's clients. The team also undertakes in-depth research to support
the internal strategic planning of the firm, which includes advice on
the creation of new services, products, revision of existing ones and
overall differentiation.
Duties and Responsibilities
To assist with the day-to-day
management of the Business Insight team and assist the Practice
Development Director and the Senior Business Insight Manager (as well
as the wider Business Development team) in researching and developing
critical business insights in relation to clients, targets,
intermediaries, specific industries and competitors identified within
firm wide business development activities.
Deliver commercially orientated client
and industry insight that will feed into the firm's pitches,
client feedback programme and business development activities.
The insight will take the form of
reports, briefings, presentations and recommendations which
will be compiled from a wide range of external and internal research
sources including CRM, public information services and social
network sites.
Prepare competitor analysis to
identify practice growth opportunities.
Assist with the management and analysis of the biennial client
feedback programme.
Supporting writing and designing of
internal and external surveys, as well as analysis of findings.
Driving and supporting business
development activities across key industry and practice areas
through research campaigns.
Strengthen the culture of "one team".
Be a mentor and coach to more junior
members of the team.
Work collaboratively with all members of
the BD team. Bring a "can do" and positive attitude to
the role.
Enhance the reputation of the BD team
within the firm for its professionalism and for the strategic and
distinctive value, it provides.
Work with communications and knowledge
services' resources within the firm as well as external suppliers.
Make effective use of all communication
channels for the firm generally e.g. website, e-bulletins,
media, sponsorship, conferences, research and industry networks.
Skills/Experience
This an exciting opportunity to join a
busy team and would suit someone with experience gained within the
professional services sector. We welcome applications from

(but not limited to) the following:
Working within a business knowledge
function at a law or professional services firm.
Working within a Strategy function at a law or professional services.
Working in a legal function (eg a
junior lawyer/paralegal/professional support lawyer).
Working as a research.
Working within publishing or journalism
focusing on either the commercial or legal sector.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
A strong academic background.
Ability to capture, summarise and
prioritise information from a variety of sources into simple,
meaningful insights that will provide opportunities to engage with
clients and grow the business.
Good knowledge of Excel.
Experience of working in a research
position within a commercial environment.
Previous people management experience.
Good desktop publishing skills,
particularly PowerPoint and Word.
Very good written skills, able to
produce good quality first drafts.
Be commercial and numerate.
Good attention to detail with the
ability to multi-task.
Excellent organisational and time
management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and stay
calm under pressure.
A strategic and creative thinker capable
of identifying, developing and gaining support for
appropriate opportunities.
Proactive and self-sufficient with the
ability to take ownership and manage certain tasks with limited guidance.
Personable and confident and able
to build relationships with the firm.
A team player who is analytical,
tenacious and self-motivated.
