Description
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Knowledge Paralegal focusing on
dispute resolution knowledge projects. The Knowledge Paralegal will
support our team of Knowledge Lawyers working in contentious teams
across the Firm and will report to the Head Contentious Knowledge Lawyer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing paralegal support to the contentious Knowledge Lawyers
on specific projects, including legal knowledge projects and
projects to improve systems and efficiencies using the latest technology.
Assisting in updating and maintaining precedent documents,
including proof reading and checking changes to documents, and
assisting with automations.
Undertaking basic legal research tasks and producing practice
guides and knowledge updates.
Collating, maintaining and managing contentious know-how.
Co-ordinating and managing logistics of contentious training,
liaising with internal and external speakers, liaising internally
with the Academy team.
Co-ordinating and managing logistics of internal know-how sessions
and managing invitations and attendance.
Assisting in the preparation of materials for internal training,
know-how sessions and knowledge updates.
Managing internal contact and expert databases and liaising with
fee earners to capture firm know how.
Uploading and managing the content of intranet pages, alongside
Knowledge Lawyers and Knowledge Services.
Working with other support staff in the Department and provide
holiday, sickness and other necessary cover to agreed standards.
Providing any other additional support as required.
Skills/Experience
Ideally LPC/BPTC qualified or equivalent or working towards SQE.
Knowledge of or interest in contentious work and a genuine
interest in knowledge development.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills.
Excellent written and drafting skills.
Ability to effectively manage own workload, working independently
and as part of a team.
Personable and confident, able to build relationships with
partners/ key stakeholders and ability to communicate effectively
with people at all levels.
Resilient and calm under pressure with an adaptable and flexible approach.
Pro-active and takes initiative.
Proficiency in MS Packages including Microsoft Word, Excel,
Outlook and Powerpoint.
Experience with Document Management Systems and intranets is an advantage.
