The Role

The Technology Operations Manager will report directly to the CIO and be responsible for activities critical to the day-to-day operation of the function including diary management, governance, performance management, staff communication and engagement, development and optimisation of MI and the execution of non-technology projects and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the diary of the CIO.
  • Implement and oversee a refreshed governance structure that reflects the full breath of the functions' services, provides expertise and direction over strategic and critical activities and helps effectively manage risk including the development of Terms of References for critical meetings including the CIO's SLT, Risk Committee and others.
  • Work closely with the People and Procurement teams to coordinate performance management activities department wide including 3rd party supplier reviews (QBRs).
  • Develop the agenda for various meetings including the CIO's SLT, all staff meetings and offsites and circulate minutes and actions following meetings. Also ensure key messages are disseminated into departmental meetings.
  • Develop a MI strategy for the function, working with the Data team to develop relevant and timely MI that can be used across the refreshed governance structure to effectively run the function, make data driven decisions and timely interventions and over time improve the functions overall performance through impactful solutions.
  • Develop a communications and engagement plan for the department ensuring:
    • feedback received from staff as part of the annual survey is incorporated into an improvement plan, with progress regularly tracked and reported on.
    • team updates, matters and contributions are regularly communicated.
    • team successes are celebrated in new and creative ways.
  • Coordinate, research and assemble presentations, draft, input into and edit reports and proposals for leadership and Board meetings and business planning purposes.
  • Keep track of and maintain the leadership team's holiday schedule agreeing appropriate cover/delegation and developing plans for extended holiday cover i.e. Christmas and New Years.
  • Manage internal (non-technical) tech team projects and initiatives, often working in partnership with other members of the Tech team. Also act as a point of contact for our colleagues across the firm on cross-departmental / firm-wide projects and initiatives. Servicing a range of requests that may come through from the firm.
  • Coordinate department-wide initiatives in line with the CIO's vision for the team including the annual review and refresh of the departments' BCP and playbooks and support of the OD/TOM work.
  • Management of strategic tech subscriptions i.e. ILTA so that the firm fully benefits from what the subscription offers.
  • Take the initiative to implement improvements and best practice into processes and policies where opportunities arise.

Skills/Experience

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with people at all levels, including senior management.
  • A strong collaborator, with the ability to work with a range of different working styles.
  • Experience of working in a Technology Department.
  • A proven passion for technology and innovation.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic, professional, high standards of delivery and very collaborative.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong communication, both verbal and written.
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced environment.
