The Department
The Risk and Compliance Team works in collaboration with the business
managing all aspects of the regulation to ensure best practice across
the Firm. We are looking for someone with high attention to detail who
prides themselves on providing an excellent service.
The role involves working with key internal stakeholders in a
fast-paced environment where managing your time and the expectations
of others is paramount. You will join a hardworking and fun team who
work together to provide a high level of service to the Firm and its clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this position involve handling all
aspects of Conflicts and AML matter opening from start to finish. This
will require conducting research and analysis, resolving
straightforward cases and escalating complex ones as necessary.
Conflicts
Conduct thorough conflict checks for new and existing clients and
matters, ensuring comprehensive research and analysis across the firm.
Address and resolve conflicts, with a strong focus on those with
complex results.
Manage conflict resolutions promptly and efficiently.
Escalate intricate conflict issues to the Risk and Compliance team
for further resolution.
Demonstrate an understanding of the SRA's Conflicts of Interest
regulations, particularly rules 6.1 to 6.5.
Adhere to and enforce the firm's policies and procedures.
Contribute to the ongoing refinement of the firm's conflict
management procedures.
AML
Work with the wider team in ensuring that
the Firm's AML policies and procedures are being appropriately
implemented to a high standard.
Work with colleagues, Financial Crime Risk
Managers and the Financial Crime Risk and Compliance Director to
ensure that the Firm's AML policies and AML regulations are being
complied with.
Conduct AML checks and investigations on new
& existing clients and on new & existing matters, which
includes carrying out sanctions, political exposure, reputational /
ethical and other related checks on clients and other relevant persons.
Conduct thorough research utilising a range
of databases, company registries, risk screening software and public
sources. Thoroughly document the research and analysis carried out
in relation to clients and matters.
Collect and evaluate due diligence
information from both new and existing clients, in line with the
Firm's AML policies, processes and relevant AML regulations and guidelines.
Monitor transactions for suspicious and
unusual activities and escalate potential AML risks to Senior
Analysts, Financial Crime Risk Managers and the Financial Crime Risk
and Compliance Director. Perform client and matter risk assessments
with varying levels of complexity and conduct enhanced due diligence
where necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML regulations, best practices
and guidance.
General Administration
Ensure that all records, both paper and electronic, are filed and
maintained to a high standard.
Assisting in opening and maintaining client/matter files.
Provide general administrative support to the team.
Liaising with fee earners and staff in a timely, professional and
courteous manner.
Regularly, frequently and accurately maintaining and update
correspondence and other filing.
Maintaining confidentiality in respect of those matters which are
commercially sensitive or secret and only share them with colleagues
and others on a need to know basis who are themselves bound by an
obligation of confidentiality.
Liaising with other departments where required.
Skills/Experience
Experience in conducting conflict
searches and AML enquiries, preferably within a legal environment.
Minimum six months experience working in a Risk & Compliance
team essential, preferably in a Law firm.
Experience using Intapp highly desirable.
An understanding of both SRA and Money Laundering regulations, as
well as familiarity with regulatory guidance is desirable.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to effectively manage own workload.
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Personable and confident, able to build relationships with
partners/ key stakeholders.
Motivated to grow professionally in Risk
and Compliance, with a readiness to broaden knowledge in the field.

Proficiency in MS Packages including Microsoft Word, Excel,
Outlook and Internet Explorer.
Experience with Document Management Systems is an advantage.
