The Department

The People Team play a key role in enabling the firm to attract, develop and retain great people, and giving them the tools and support needed to develop and fulfil their potential, and that of the firm. The team is welcoming, inclusive, driven by providing a 'high touch' level of service, and collaborative in terms of how we work. The team consists of c.40 people in both business-facing, generalist roles (Advisory) alongside specialist teams (Data & Systems; Reward; Engagement EDI & Wellbeing; Talent Acquisition, as well as our Academy, which consists of Academy Learning, Academy Tech and Early Careers).

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced recruitment professional looking to focus on partner and lateral hires. The role will involve supporting both partner and lateral recruitment and onboarding as a Talent Acquisition Advisor on a 12-month fixed term contract. The team is led by the Director of People Advisory and consists of two Managers, an additional Advisor, an Assistant and an Administrator.

Alongside the day-to-day, you will be encouraged to take on project work and make connections across the wider firm. This may include volunteering to sit on one of the firms EDI committees, providing and implementing ideas to improve the recruitment experience, and contributing to our external and internal recruitment pages, e.g. LinkedIn and the Intranet.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a proven track record in legal recruitment, whether this be from agency and/or in-house and with experience of partner recruitment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role will include, but is not limited to, the following day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Managing the end-to-end recruitment cycle - Liaising with hiring managers; taking role briefs; uploading new roles; conducting market mapping using LinkedIn and our aggregator software; approaching candidates; acting as an ambassador for the firm; seeking the relevant approvals at commencement and offer stage, where required.
  • Overseeing the partner recruitment tracker, ensuring it is up to date and managing introductions through our ATS with support from an Assistant/Administrator.
  • Conducting recruiter briefings; ensuring agencies are clear on our expectations and processes and are signed up to our standard terms; maintaining strong relationships; flagging duplicate candidates and managing agency disputes, with support from the Talent Acquisition Managers.
  • Working closely with the Talent Acquisition Manager for partner recruitment and People Advisory Director. Providing regular updates, escalating where appropriate and collaborating on the onboarding of lateral Partners.
  • Gathering feedback after and ahead of all interviews and creating detailed internal briefing notes ahead of interviews.
  • Advising Partners at the firm on recruitment strategy, best practice and playing a leading role in supporting them to find, attract and secure the best talent, across both lateral and partner processes.
  • Supporting partners, candidates and recruiters through the voting process and ensuring all the relevant documentation is collected.
  • Arranging interviews and booking meeting rooms with support from an Assistant/Administrator.
  • Producing high quality market mapping and market intelligence, when needed, with support from an Assistant/Administrator.
  • Producing 'Talent Attraction Packs' for high priority searches, with support from an Assistant/Administrator.
  • Liaising with our Risk & Compliance team on conflict checks.
  • Acting as the talent acquisition subject matter expert in various meetings, both with the business and People Team.
  • Collaborating with the People Advisory team across both Partner and Lateral recruitment and ensuring they are well informed of the various processes for their respective groups.
  • Supporting firmwide EDI objectives and participating in EDI initiatives.
  • Taking responsibility and proactively engaging in your own professional development, networking and sharing best practice through attending training sessions, webinars and networking events.
  • Being innovative, making recommendations and improving our processes, to ensure we are delivering a better experience for candidates, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conducting telephone, video and face to face interviews for Associates and Business Operations candidates.
  • Using market knowledge and experience to guide talent acquisition approaches and hiring decisions.
  • Collaborating with our Reward team at offer stage; sharing market intel with Reward and Advisory colleagues as needed.

Skills/Experience

  • Ideally 4+ years of recruitment experience within the legal sector.
  • Experience of partner recruitment gained in an agency and/or in-house environment.
  • In-depth understanding of the legal industry and specifically partnership structures and remuneration.
  • Experience of using an ATS, LinkedIn Recruiter and market mapping software would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with Partners/senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage projects and produce market mapping exercises with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and creatively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload, and work as part of a team.
  • Resilient and calm under pressure.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach.
  • Pro-active and takes initiative.
