Summary of Position

The role has arisen due to the expansion of the Firm and increasing financial, technical and reporting related requirements relating to our practice management system Aderant. The role will primarily support the Systems Accountant, with ownership of specific tasks as well as working collaboratively on other matters.

There are four primary responsibilities of the Finance Systems function:

• Supporting and developing the Firm's Practice Management System (Aderant) and other finance related applications
• Providing support to the overall Finance team and potentially all areas whether that is operational / credit / commercial / financial/ etc.
• Providing on request reporting and analysis for the Firm (Fee Earners, Directors, Finance, HR and Business Development)
• Developing tools for the Finance team to make processes more efficient

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing 2nd line support to the IT support desk for all support tickets relating to the firm's Practice Management System (Aderant)
• Assisting Systems Accountant in periodic control reporting to ensure Aderant is recording information accurately
• Deputising for the Systems Accountant in closing financial periods (monthly and annually) on Aderant
• Working with the Aderant support team, issuing and managing tickets for technical issues that cannot be resolved internally
• Providing bespoke information and analysis to the Firm on request via Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Excel and SSRS reporting
• Setting up new joiners on Aderant and maintaining information in accordance with HR's records
• Supporting the finance team by providing on request reporting
• Supporting the finance team by investigating and resolving technical accounting issues
• Assisting the finance team with Microsoft Excel related issues, including Visual Basic for Applications
• Assisting in the development of new tools for the finance team to automate tasks and make processes more efficient
• Participating in finance system related projects providing advice and guidance on finance systems and general practices within finance system processes
• Responsible for monitoring data integrity within Aderant i.e. month end checks

Skills/Experience

General

• Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a financial environment with technical responsibilities, preferably in professional services
• Investigating and resolving technical issues with a solution focussed approach
• Prioritising effectively in accordance with the needs of the department and meeting deadlines for critical tasks
• Working effectively with other individuals and teams and being receptive to their requirements
• Communicating effectively with internal clients and ensuring regular communication is maintained for longer term tasks

Systems Usage

Full training and development will be provided for all systems. Some knowledge is required however:

• Intermediate / Advanced Microsoft Excel essential
• Basic Microsoft SQL essential
• Experience in using a Practice Management System a strong preference
• SSRS Reporting preferable but not essential
• VBA (Excel) preferable but not essential
• Microsoft Office
