Strategic & Practice Management Support
NRFC is seeking a lawyer in Toronto who is interested in business
development, practice management and new opportunities to provide both
strategic and hands-on support to the Chair. This is an excellent
opportunity to join a world-class group of professionals at an
established Canadian law firm with a significant international legal
practice. It is also an opportunity to be part of a collaborative,
collegial and innovative team, which has a significant focus on
training, mentorship and development.
The role will include the following responsibilities:
Matter management and coordination, including identifying legal
and business issues, in order to:
Prioritize tasks and assist with staffing and work allocation
functions; and
Identify and respond to business opportunities, including
client-facing ones;
Analyze and provide strategic advice regarding potential business
development opportunities and prepare material for consideration by
the Chair and others;
Identify and advance business development, profile-raising and
marketing opportunities in Canada and globally;
Coordinate lawyers and others within NRF nationally and globally
regarding potential and actual mandates and
marketing/profile-raising opportunities;
Arrange, prepare for and attend business development and client
meetings, as required;
Advance client matters, as required;
Report on business development, client and firm matters;
Assist with all aspects of managing client relationships,
including managing correspondence, initial preparation of engagement
letters, addressing conflict issues, assisting with client and
internal communications, and assistance with billing; and
Liaise with internal and external teams and act as point of
contact on special projects, as required.
The ideal candidate will possess an LL.B or JD degree and will also have:
2-6 years experience in a corporate/transactional law practice
(file/project management skills will be viewed as an asset);
Excellent communication, organization and
client-service/interpersonal skills;
Ability to take initiative and work independently;
Excellent judgment; and
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a
high-pressure environment.
Requirements:
Ability to work remotely, but must be able to attend meetings in
person as required; and
Flexibility in work hours.
