Due to continued growth, Norton Rose Fulbright's Corporate practice is on the look-out for an ambitious and talented senior lawyer to join the thriving Melbourne team.

What we do

The Melbourne Corporate Partners boast an exciting portfolio of clients and work across several sectors but is focussed largely on private and public M&A including private equity/venture capital, technology/TMT, renewables, infrastructure, retail and financial services. Some recent deals the team has worked on include:

  • Advising Vodafone Hutchison Australia on its $16.63 billion merger with TPG Corporation and listing the merged group on ASX.
  • Advising Shell on acquiring 49% of renewable energy project developer Esco Pacific. This was Shell's entry into the renewable energy market in Australia and an important step in the energy transition.
  • Advising General Motors on withdrawal of the Holden brand and sale of General Motors Financial Australia.

Who we are looking for

We want to speak with people who:

  • operate effectively in a dynamic and energetic team;
  • enjoy working with and mentoring junior lawyers;
  • are comfortable working directly with Partners; and
  • like to manage their own matters and take pride in developing strong relationships with their clients.

Your role in the team

All lawyers in the Melbourne Corporate team work across a range of cross border and domestic M&A transactions.

As a senior lawyer you will:

  • liaise directly with clients and proactively work to develop your own client & peer relationships;
  • assume a project management role on small and significant matters;
  • co-ordinate work streams between Partners and more junior lawyers; and
  • work for multiple Partners specialising in all areas of corporate law including private M&A, private equity/venture capital, ECM and public M&A.

The essentials

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • be a tenacious and collaborative person with an exceptional academic record;
  • have 4+ years PQE with experience in private M&A and ideally public M&A; and
  • take a commercial approach when providing legal advice and be experienced dealing with complex transactions.

You must also be an exceptional communicator and have proven excellent analytical, technical and drafting skills.

Remuneration will be commensurate with relevant experience.
