We're seeking an Associate with solid experience in investment funds to join our growing Sydney funds team, working with the national lead partner of the funds practice. Our investment funds clients are truly global and you will regularly work on matters with your counterparts in other regions across the NRF global network. Work highlights for the funds team have included:

  • Advising a big 4 Australian bank on the acquisition of a $250m interest in an Australian infrastructure fund
  • Advising a top 10 global asset manager on the establishment of $2bn and $5bn fund-of-ones investing in alternative risk investment management strategies
  • Advising on the restructuring of holding trusts for an Australian renewable energy project
  • Advising a large Australian superannuation fund on the establishment of an Australian domiciled fund of one for investment in European real estate assets and subsequent transition to Luxembourg
  • Advising a leading Canadian asset manager on its $10 million investment into an unlisted Australian REIT, including FIRB requirements and the terms of investment

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the strategic development and growth of the funds practice and business development planning, with the support of a talented group of associates.

The key responsibilities and requirements for this role are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Work across a range of funds formation and transactional work, including cross border investments
  • Transaction support on deals focussing on real assets sectors including PE, energy/renewables, debt, real estate and infrastructure
  • Provide high quality advice to a broad range of blue-chip global and domestic asset management clients
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Mentor junior lawyers in theteam
  • Assist with business development and the strategic development of the practice

Requirements

  • 2+ years PQE with experience within funds at a leading firm
  • Excellent analytical, technical and drafting skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Outstanding academics
