Job description
The Team
We have an opportunity for a mid-level
associate to join our projects team in Dubai. The role will involve a
particular emphasis on project finance, but would also involve
general banking related work.
Working in the Norton Rose Fulbright
(Middle East) LLP projects team provides a unique opportunity to
experience and develop a broad range of projects-related skills
working together with an integrated team encompassing lawyers based
in Dubai.
We have a top tier project team across the
Middle East, Europe and Asia. Our work covers all major classes of
projects and all types of structures. We operate across all industry
sectors and are market leaders in the energy, transport,
infrastructure and mining sectors. The client base includes leading
banks and financial institutions, sponsors and developers, major
corporates and export credit and other government agencies.
Most transactions have an international
and multi-jurisdictional aspect to them and many involve working
with colleagues in specialist areas across our international network
such as dispute resolution, real estate, technology, insurance,
securitization, capital markets, Islamic finance, and corporate
finance and corporate
rescue/restructuring. At the same time,
our projects lawyers get the opportunity to develop a real commercial understanding of one or more
key industries and their requirements.
We advise across the full spectrum of
legal banking and finance matters, acting for parties ranging from
multinational lenders to growth corporations. Clients depend on us
for legal advice on day-to-day banking and finance issues for
issuers, underwriters, borrowers and lenders, as well as for our
leadership in complex, cross-border banking and finance transactions
for some of the world's most prominent financial institutions and
corporations.
The Role
Candidates should have the following
skills and experience listed below:
Skills and Experience Required
The successful candidate will have an
excellent academic background and strong banking and finance
experience from a top-tier law firm including the following:
3 to 5 years of projects finance
experience across both infrastructure and energy sectors.
Knowledge of the local and regional markets will be a key advantage;
English law qualified, or qualified in another Commonwealth
jurisdiction, preferably with experience of working in a major
financial centre;
Demonstrate intellectual rigor - the ability to analyse, think
laterally and proffer solutions quickly;
Possess strong drafting skills;
Experience of taking a lead associate role on transactions,
together with responsibility for supervisions of more junior team
members and supervision/interface with local counsel;
Demonstrate an aptitude for dealing with complex and intricate
transactions involving multiple jurisdictions and that require a
more creative approach;
Communicate effectively on both a
practical and intellectual level and be an active listener; and
Have an interest in, and an aptitude for, developing the firm's
business, and a willingness to assist in the development of client
relationships through meetings, presentations, producing know-how
and other business development initiatives.
Advantages
A familiarity with a wide range of finance and security
documentation typically entered into across structured finance and,
in particular, project financed transactions, including LMA form of
documentation, as well as a wider understanding of project
structures and project documentation typically entered into in power
and infrastructure projects especially in the Middle East region.
