The Function

Global IT are responsible for the design, build and operation of central IT services that are used across multiple regions within Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF). The team works closely with Global CTO and CISO and regional IT to develop and manage a central service portfolio, common standards, policies, tools and practices.

Role Definition

The DevOps Lead is a key new role that will provide Azure cloud adoption and DevOps leadership as we transform our existing data centres through a cloud first approach, following proven industry and Microsoft Best Practices to ensure infrastructure systems and services perform at an optimal level.

This role will lead the transition to cloud and development of the DevOps practice, including the building, implementation, and operation of automation systems and services.

This role will provide DevOps leadership driving adoption, management and optimisation working across multiple regions as part of a matrix-managed, multi-sourced organization and translate business requirements into technical infrastructure solutions leveraging strong business acumen.

Primary Responsibilities

• Define and own the Azure cloud and Infrastructure DevOps roadmap in conjunction with the CTO, global and regional IT
• Provide Azure and Infrastructure DevOps expertise, leadership, direction and assistance to IT leadership, project delivery, regional technical leads and engineering teams
• Define, build and lead implementation and adoption of Azure cloud and Infrastructure DevOps including: automation; tools; operational processes; governance & controls for cloud management
• Build, maintain, manage and and improve cloud operations and service dashboards tailored to audience
• Identify and drive cloud adoption by identifying opportunities, develop business cases and support transition to, and optimisation of, cloud services
• Work closely with Regional and Central IT Stakeholders on the transition to cloud and development of DevOps practices
• Lead technical implementation and operational management of core, common and global Azure services
• Research emerging cloud technologies and DevOps best practices, propose and develop business cases that deliver IT & business value

Key Skills / Qualifications / Knowledge

The successful candidate for this role will have the following experience and expertise:

• Strong experience of architecting, technical designing and implementing Azure cloud and technical DevOps solutions (including management and optimisation)
• Experience in Azure cloud transformation and effective DevOps management strategies, tools, models, and processes
• Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively convey complex ideas tailored appropriately to the audience (from senior executives to technical experts)
• Excellent technical leadership, collaboration, and matrix-management skills to operate effectively in a global organisation
• Good experience of powershell scripting, and broader coding an advantage (eg Python)
• Strong experience of automation and developing Infrastructure as Code (ARM templates, Terraform, or Ansible)
• Proven experience with Azure DevOps. Azure Repos, GitHub
• Good experience of containerisation technologies eg Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Registry)
• Experience in transformation from on premise architecture to Azure IAAS, PAAS (incl SQL managed instances), and SAAS
• Proven experience of working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple initiatives in parallel
• Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years' experience as a Certified Azure DevOps Engineer
• Formal Education: Bachelor's Degree in MIS, CS, business or related studies helpful, but experience will carry the most weight
