The Role
- Assist in the provision of regulatory compliance advice and
support to clients in the UK and internationally.
- Contribute, as required, to business development activities.
- Work and collaborate with other parts of Norton Rose Fulbright, as required.
- Contribute to the maintenance and service of client relationships,
whilst assisting with the development of new client relationships.
- Assist in the provision of excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities
The role holder will provide day-to-day support across various areas including:
- Assisting with the review and update of compliance documentation
(e.g. monitoring plans, policies and procedures);
- Providing support in respect of FCA applications (e.g. variations
of permission, authorisations, cancellations etc.);
- Assisting with the provision of advice to clients (e.g. carrying
out the first review of a client query and/or acting as the point
person for a client);
- Assisting with drafting slides for internal/external training sessions;
- Assistance on regulatory projects and/or compliance monitoring
work (e.g. coordinating meetings, carrying out initial reviews of
documents, submitting document requests, and reconciling documents);
- Assisting with research tasks e.g. in respect of the application
of a legal requirement/FCA rule or more generally with a respect to
a client's activities/business model;
- Carrying out quality control reviews; and
- Supporting business development tasks (e.g. helping with pitches,
providing a first draft of articles and podcast scripts, identifying
opportunities etc.).
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong academic record.
- Minimum of a degree in law or other degree combined with legal
training/qualification. (We are happy to consider equivalent
experience gained through consulting or a specialised paralegal role
in a similar firm/proposition).
- Experience and knowledge of regulatory compliance/financial
services including familiarity with the FCA Handbook, or otherwise a
strong interest in the area.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational, time management and administrative skills.
- Excellent verbal presentation and interpersonal skills,
- High level of attention to detail and approach to delivering high
quality work.
- Proactive approach and enthusiasm for working both independently
and as part of a team.
- A commercial, pragmatic and problem-solving approach.
- Highly motivated, with the ability to work within a fast-paced,
high pressure working environment.
- The role holder should also be willing to work flexibly across a
variety of subjects whilst managing a range of competing priorities.
Norton Rose Fulbright is a global firm, and whilst the job is
primarily based in London, the role holder should be prepared to
travel, on occasion.
