Osborne Clarke are looking for an IT Business Manager (known internally as IT Excellence Manager), an exciting newly created role. The role will involve supporting the International IT Director in setting and implementing the strategic direction of the function, creating a high performing culture, engaging in strategic planning & leading initiatives across the IT department.

This is a permanent role which we're happy to be based in either our Bristol or London office, offering a hybrid working arrangement.

The role

The IT Excellence Manager will collaborate with other business services teams to implement best practices, ensuring that the IT department delivers efficiencies, mitigates risks and drives improvement.

Other key responsibilities include:

Strategy and Roadmaps: Taking the lead in developing and owning the comprehensive ITS-wide strategy and non-technology roadmaps that outline the future direction of ITS and its services, creating a holistic view of the organization's future, considering operational priorities and objectives that align with the requirements of the Operational Board.

Communications and materials: Implementing effective internal communication methods, utilizing various channels such as written communications, internal sites, fire side chats, and town halls. They also create materials for forums like the Operations Board and handle communications to stakeholders.

ITS Reporting: Responsible for overseeing the framework for reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) and service levels across the function. They ensure that services are measured and reported upon effectively and teams are responsible for identifying areas for improvement based on the reported data.

Budgeting and Resource Management: Collaborating with finance and leadership to improve the management of financial structures, ensuring accountability for budgeting, spending, and cost reallocation. This includes tracking headcount movement and managing recruitment plans to optimize resource allocation.

People and Talent Management: Collaborating with HR functions to implement best practices to enhance the skills, attraction, and retention of talent. They work alongside the management team to establish shared goals and objectives that aid in identifying high-performing individuals and succession planning. Additionally, they partner with HR recruitment to establish a framework that ensures the availability of talent pipelines and effective interview skills to attract top talent.

Projects & Initiatives: Taking ownership of non-technology related projects and non-standard service requests that are not managed by the Change team. They ensure that these activities are tracked and managed through to completion, meeting the specified deliverables of the requests.

We are looking for:

  • Ability to motivate and inspire teams, set clear goals and provide guidance and support
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information, negotiate, and build relationships with the team, peers and stakeholders
  • The capacity to think critically, analyse complex situations, and develop strategic plans to achieve business objectives
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control to effectively manage resources and make informed decisions
  • The ability to plan, organize, and execute non-standard service requests, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
  • A proactive and analytical mindset to identify and address challenges, find innovative solutions, and make sound decisions
  • The skill to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and achieve common goals
  • The flexibility to adapt to changing business environments, embrace new technologies, and navigate through uncertainty
  • The ability to negotiate effectively, influence others, and drive consensus in order to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Being skilled in using applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and managing emails
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools like Excel and Power-Bi software to interpret and analyse data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions
  • A basic understanding of IT infrastructure and applications components, networks, and systems to communicate effectively with the ITS teams and make informed decisions
  • Familiarity with communicating ideas, concepts and strategies. Interpreting technology related matters to non-technically orientated colleagues. Leveraging digital platforms to convey messages and themes
