We are looking for a Knowledge Lawyer/Professional Support Lawyer to provide high quality knowledge support for our market-leading Energy team, our broader Energy & Utilities sector and our Decarbonisation Transformation work. The successful person will have expertise in UK energy policy and regulation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an experienced and well-respected Knowledge Team, working in a supportive and collegiate environment. It would suit both someone who was looking to move to their first knowledge role as well as those with previous experience of professional support wanting a high-profile role which is central to many areas of the Firm's work.

You may choose to be based in either our London or Bristol office and work on a full or part-time basis (at least equivalent to 4 days a week). We are also very happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, which are common across the Knowledge Team.

"I've found them excellent. We go back to their team because their response rate is fantastic." - Chambers UK

Our highly regarded Energy practice advises investors, developers and utilities looking to seize opportunities associated with decarbonisation and the future energy system. Our work ranges from pure advisory work through to large infrastructure projects and energy asset M&A.

We are known for our technical excellence, but more so for our solutions-led approach.

Our UK team operates from London, Bristol and Reading. Much of our practice is international in nature and we work closely with colleagues in Osborne Clarke locations around the world.

The opportunity

Knowledge is at the heart of Osborne Clarke's strategy, and you will be a key member of an innovative and purposeful Knowledge Team. You will provide dynamic, technically excellent and business-focused support to the Energy team and Energy & Utilities sector, implementing best practice professional support within a fast-growing part of our business.

You will work collaboratively with the Energy & Utilities Partners, our Decarbonisation experts, and members of the Knowledge Team as well as sales and marketing professionals and Partners in other parts of the firm. You will carry out your responsibilities with the support of your line manager, and our Head of Knowledge and dedicated paralegal, PA and training administration support.

Like all our people, you will be well supported and developed in your role to build a career in Knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

To:

  • keep the Energy lawyers, Energy & Utilities Sector team and Decarbonisation experts and clients up-to-date on legal and regulatory change
  • take the lead in producing reader-friendly internal updates, client publications and thought leadership
  • assist in the preparation and delivery of client seminars and client workshops
  • organise the delivery of legal training, facilitating know-how sharing and, where relevant, developing a technically excellent collection of template documents
  • deal with queries from lawyers and clients regarding current law and practice
  • coordinate with colleagues across Osborne Clarke's locations to deliver internationally focussed analysis and content
  • input into and help to deliver the relevant strands of Osborne Clarke's strategy.

Skills And Experience

You will have an excellent knowledge of UK Energy policy, law, regulation and practice and an understanding of the wider international policy and regulatory landscape.

You will have an ability to present information clearly, both in writing and when speaking. You will be a pro-active self-starter with excellent organisational skills.

Due to the technical nature of the work, we are looking for someone who is legally-qualified with relevant post-graduate experience. You may be a fee-earning lawyer in private practice or working within the legal team of a regulator, business, in academia or in a knowledge role elsewhere, or returning to work after a career break.

If you are unsure whether your qualifications and experience are right for the role, please do contact us - we are always happy to have informal conversations with people who would like to join our team.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
