Job Location

Role

Description
We have an exciting new
opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate with contentious
trade mark, copyright and designs experience to join our highly
regarded IP Disputes team in London.
The team has seen significant
growth over recent years which is reflected in its move up the
rankings in all the IP directories. This role offers an opportunity
to be involved in varied and multi-disciplinary IP work, often with
an international focus. Our collegiate and supportive culture makes
Osborne Clarke a rewarding and dynamic place to work.
The practice
Our IP Disputes team is known for
acting in high profile, high value IP litigation with an
international element, as well as advising on IP strategy and
handling portfolio management matters for internationally recognised
brands. We are currently acting in contentious IP matters in the
High Court, Court of Appeal, General Court, EUIPO and UKIPO.
We act for leading businesses in
the TMC, retail & consumer, life sciences and financial services
sectors. Our sector-focussed approach ensures that we have valuable
expertise in the areas in which our clients operate and deep
understanding of the issues that they face.
Osborne Clarke's reputation as a
technology-led firm pervades our IP expertise and means that many of
the IP disputes we advise on have an internet/e-commerce/social
media/ high tech element.
Our IP Disputes team in London is
led by Arty Rajendra and 5 further Partners (Will James, Robert
Guthrie, Richard May, Trevor Crosse and Tim Harris) working with 2
Associate Directors, 4 Senior Associates, 6 Associates, 4 Paralegals
and 2 Trainee Solicitors and 1 Trade Mark Formalities Assistant. We
are proud of our collegiate and collaborative approach, and are
committed to building a strong supportive Associate team. This role
will be working directly with the Partners on largely contentious
soft IP matters and other soft IP advisory issues, while being able
to effectively delegate to the more junior members of the team.
Technical skills and experience
You will have gained excellent
technical expertise and credible experience in trade mark, copyright
and design disputes, and will be comfortable working directly with
clients, counsel and witnesses. You will have solid IP litigation
experience gained at a well-respected firm, and be able to
horizon-spot important IP issues facing in-house IP/legal teams.
Due to the highly specialised
nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to
hire a Senior Associate, although we would consider candidates with
more or less experience.
The team is expanding rapidly, so
this role would suit someone who is looking to be part of a dynamic
team and to take a leading role in business development and
marketing initiatives to support our growths.
Your career development
Like all our lawyers, you will
benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme.
At each stage of your career this provides you with:
clear expectations of your role
and what it takes to progress;
high quality clients and work,
with early responsibility and client exposure;
thorough assessment and
individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
robust technical training with
early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
reward for your contribution,
progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.
Salary and benefits
We offer competitive salaries and
generous benefits.
