The Medical and Life Sciences Insurance team spans London and Bristol
and is linked with the General Liability team. There are currently 2
Partners, 6 Senior Associates and 4 Associates, 1 Paralegal and 1
Trainee in the team. The team is part of the firm's Insurance Group
and has a well-established client base, acting for a number of market
leading insurers in the provision of healthcare services to insured
health and social care organisations and healthcare professionals. The
team also acts directly for private and charitable health and social
care providers.
The role
We have an opportunity for a lawyer (NQ - 2 years PQE) to join the
Medical and Life Sciences team in Bristol. The successful candidate
will have the opportunity to work within a vibrant and growing team.
The work will be very varied, interesting and challenging and, where
you show you can run the matters successfully, you will be given
autonomy to make your own mark on the files. You will also have the
opportunity to get involved with business development and client
initiatives, where appropriate. In addition, you can expect to:
Manage and assist with the management of medical malpractice claims.
Assist with the management of inquests and attending hearings as a
notetaker or advocate.
Assist on Fitness to Practise investigations and CQC prosecutions.
Deliver a high quality and timely output to clients, ensuring high
levels of client service and alignment with agreed working practices
and client service level agreements.
Work to develop an environment of constant improvement:
enthusiastically sharing with and helping others; and taking
responsibility for aspects of team development, such as intranet
pages, training and induction, process improvement etc.
Capture and collate required Management Information in accordance
with agreed practice for clients.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the team's
service, support, processes and procedures.
Attend client events and/or travel to London when required.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Legal Executive or Solicitor NQ - 2 years PQE
A strong grounding in handling personal injury claims and fast
track litigation.
A good knowledge of legal procedures
Able to deliver legal and commercial solutions and establish
collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues to
provide an outstanding client experience.
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Able to manage client relationships and deliver trusted relationships.
High level of confidentiality and integrity
Committed to business development to further grow their network
and the practice.
Work efficiently and commercially and understands the importance
of financial hygiene.
Collaborative and works effectively in a team.
Committed to being part of a supportive, inclusive and
collaborative firm culture.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
