complex large scale global disputes. With over 300 litigation lawyers
to call upon, our team is capable of handling the most complex cases

We are creating a new role to support our Senior Associate Costs

costs. Our current process includes a combination of one dedicated
Senior Costs Lawyer, RPC lawyers, paralegals, and
outsourced providers.
The role
We are looking for another dedicated member of the costs team to
assist our Senior Costs Lawyer to help bolster our in-house capability.
This is an opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to support
and assist the delivery within the specialist and ever-developing area
of costs litigation. This individual would work across a number of
teams, with partners, associates and paralegals delivering costs services.
The work will be varied, interesting and challenging. Working
alongside our existing Senior Cost Lawyer; you will work on a wide
range of matters, with values ranging from tens of thousands of pounds
to multi millions. The underlying work types include commercial
disputes, professional negligence, medical claims, and property
damage. In addition, you can expect to:
Prepare and submit claims for costs for assessment.
Negotiate successful settlements (both paying and receiving party).
Draft Bills for assessment by the court.
Prepare Costs Estimate and Schedules.
Liaise with and advise clients regarding their cost claims.
There will also be the opportunity to undertake advocacy at Costs
and Case Management conferences and Detailed Assessment Hearings for
interested candidates.
Knowledge, skills and experience

PQE) or equivalent relevant expertise. Experience of using Costs
Master is advantageous.
Excellent knowledge of legal procedures.
Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
Excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing).
High level of confidentiality and integrity.
Works efficiently and commercially and understands the importance
of financial hygiene.
Collaborative and works effectively in a team.
Committed to being part of a supportive, inclusive and
collaborative firm culture.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and ideally a working knowledge
of Costs Master.
Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
We are problem solvers. Whether in front of clients or behind the
scenes. To solve problems creatively for clients, we need diverse
collaborative thinking; drawing on different experiences, backgrounds
and perspectives. That means that everyone who either applies to, or
works for, the firm is treated equitably. We believe in removing
barriers to equal access not least because our people define us and
define what we do. If you need support and adjustments to do your best
work, whether that's during the recruitment process or throughout your
time at RPC, we're here to help.
Flexible working that supports your commitments outside of work is an
important part of our culture and, where possible, we will support
this across all roles. Please get in touch with our recruitment team
if you have any questions about our hybrid working approach or
flexible working policy.
