The team

Our competition and antitrust team advise on UK and EU competition law, covering the full range from merger control to competition investigations and litigation. We guide UK and international clients through complex competition investigations but also help them ensure compliance in commercial activities as well as offering strategic support for specific projects and transactions. We also support clients on NSI and FSR filings. We work across a wide range of sectors including consumer goods, food and drink, technology and telecommunications and insurance.

The role

We have an opportunity for a competition associate of NQ-c.4 years of PQE to join the team as it enters an exciting period of growth. Working closely with head of team, Tom McQuail, you will benefit from high levels of client contact and a wide variety of work.

We will work with you to ensure you have opportunity to gain experience in a breadth of competition work. Although the focus of work will vary at any time, it typically will include advising on ongoing merger projects, day to day competition enquiries from our wide range of clients, competition authority investigations and supporting the competition litigation team.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • NQ-4 years of PQE or equivalent relevant expertise
  • You will have a strong grounding in competition law, ideally including both non-contentious and contentious experience.
  • Delivers legal and commercial solutions and establishes collaborative working relationships with colleagues and clients to provide an outstanding client experience.
  • Supports the team to manage the client experience, develops trusted relationships and interacts with clients confidently to achieve the best outcome for the client.
  • Committed to business development to further grow their network and the practice, spotting opportunities and developing these with the team.
  • Works efficiently and commercially and understands the importance of financial hygiene.
  • Collaborative and works effectively in a team.
  • Understands how to develop junior team members and support their ambitions.
