The role
Reporting to the Business Development Manager (BDM), this position
has responsibility for the delivery of marketing and business
development services to the Retail & Consumer sector group, and
our IP, Technology, Outsourcing, Commercial Contracts team.
We are recruiting for a Business Development Executive to join our
team to support the firm's business and client development strategies
across the Retail & Consumer sector and our IP, Technology,
Outsourcing, Commercial Contracts practice.
This role will form an integral part of the Retail & Consumer BD
team, reporting into the BDM and will be joining the firm at an
exciting time when there is a great deal of strategic focus and
ambition within the business development function and wider firm.
The Retail & Consumer sector is one of the firm's priority
sectors. We act for numerous household names, winning a number of
accolades including being ranked in Tier 1 of in the Retail and
Consumer category of the Legal 500 directory and being accredited as
Best Legal Adviser by Legal Week eight years in a row.
This role also focuses on supporting the growth in the firm's IP,
Technology, Outsourcing, Commercial Contracts practice, core parts
of the Commercial Division of the firm, supporting on business
development strategies.
With support from the BDM and Senior BD Manager, the successful
candidate will combine day-to-day support for London-based partners
in the Sector and practices and collaboration with the wider
partnership, colleagues in our Asia offices and Brand, Clients and
Markets (BCM) team on broader BD initiatives.
The role is suitable for a Business Development Assistant or
Executive who is looking for a full mix role in a mid-sized law firm
where they can make a strategic impact and help shape the growth of
this dynamic group.
The role has a primary focus on marketing and business development
but will also be involved in other go to market initiatives including
strategic events and activities.
Day to day duties may include, but are not limited to:
Business intelligence
Understanding the firm and key audiences of the retail &
consumer sector, and each practice area
Business planning
Assisting the Senior Business Development Manager and BDM to
deliver on the BD/Marketing plan priorities for each business area.
Managing activities
Working alongside fee earners to implement the planned activities for
each area of the business and ensure budgetary control of those
activities including:
Marketing materials
Working with fee earners and others in BD & Marketing to
develop marketing collateral (e.g. capability statements and other
promotional materials)
Maintaining capability statements and fee earner biographies on a
rolling basis and being the "go-to" person for those documents
Internal Communication and knowledge sharing
Assisting the Senior Business Development Manager in co-ordinating
and collation of content for internal newsletters and knowledge sharing
Producing regular email for the groups to encourage sharing of
content on digital channels
Marketing Campaigns and Digital marketing
Working with the Communications and Digital teams to ensure that
social media and other online networking opportunities are exploited
Working with the Communications and Digital teams to ensure
relevant and up-to-date information is included within the firm's
intranet and on the firm's website
Pitch and proposals
Assisting the BDM on practice-led pitches and the Proposals team
on panel pitches throughout the tendering process where necessary,
including for example: research, attending meetings with the bid
team, sourcing pitch content and drawing together drafts, producing
supporting materials and handouts, assisting in production of final documents
Directories & awards
Assisting the Senior Business Development Manager and BDM on
co-ordinating and collating the submissions to legal directories
Seminars and events
Briefing and discussion with the Events team on each event
Working with the CRM and Events teams to ensure accurate and
carefully targeted invitation lists for each event
Briefing and working with the Events team on the design and
production of supporting collateral, (eg invitations and seminar packs)
Tracking return on investment
Supporting and attending events and planning meetings, rehearsals
as required (liaise with Events team)
Working with the Events team to ensure appropriate event reports
and analysis of invitees and attendees etc
Direct Marketing
Supporting the BDM and working with the CRM team on client mailings
General
Collaborate with Brand Clients and Marketing (BCM) colleagues to
ensure marketing initiatives are coordinated and align with
firmwide, sector and practice marketing and brand-building activities.
Sharing best practice and knowledge with others in BD & Marketing
Assisting the Senior Business Development Manager and BDM in
drawing together any required information for management reporting
