Description

The team

Led by Partner Patrick Brodie, our Employment, Engagement & Equality team comprises a core group of London and Hong Kong based Partners, with Senior Associates/Associates/Trainees based in London, Bristol, Hong Kong and Singapore. The team regularly works with colleagues across our Corporate and Commercial teams, Commercial Disputes, Data Protection, Financial Services, Insurance and Tax, to deliver specialist advice.

Ranked in the legal guides and award winning, we are recognised for our work across a range of high value and high stakes employment litigation, corporate governance, and advisory and transactional matters. We are experts on whistleblowing, restrictive covenants, and bonus disputes. We have acted on groundbreaking cases that have clarified both domestic and international law, including in the Court of Appeal, the UK Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

We are immersed in the ethos and principles of DEIB, focusing on supporting and advising our clients, industry bodies, and leadership teams in the evolution of behaviours, attitudes, and culture that advance their vision of a more equitable workplace.

The role

As the team enters an exciting phase of sustained growth, we are looking for a mid-level associate (with c.2-4 years of PQE) based out of our London office.

Your experience to date will have been gained at a top-quality commercial practice or equivalent. We say equivalent because we never know where we might find brilliant people. You will be a lawyer comfortable dealing with all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious. You will have sufficient experience and enthusiasm to be responsible for smaller matters, supported by more senior members of our team. You will take an active role working on larger matters and projects, further developing your technical expertise and client-centred approach.

We emphasise collegiality; but we want our lawyers to be themselves. We seek out brilliance; but do not have a fixed view on how that might be expressed. We want our lawyers to grow, achieving their ambitions; but not at their own cost or the cost of those they work with. You will be challenged. You will be working alongside colleagues based out of both the Bristol and London offices, supporting our many and varied clients. On occasion, you may work with our teams in Hong Kong and Singapore.

The sectors we are closest to are retail and consumer, technology and media, and insurance. Your work, though predominantly UK domestic will, also, be international.

  • Collaborative and works effectively in a team.
  • Committed to being part of a supportive, inclusive and collaborative firm culture.
