Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Business Development Executive (SBDE) to support the growth of our Insurance practice, focusing specifically on the Construction, Property, and Professional Indemnity departments. This is a pivotal role within a forward-thinking and collaborative team, offering autonomy to take ownership of strategic initiatives and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the firm's business development efforts.

This is a highly visible role, working directly with Partner leads on key projects and strategic initiatives. So, it will require a candidate with a commercial mindset, strategic thinking skills, and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders.

The position will suit an experienced ambitious Business Development Executive ready for the next step. This role combines project ownership within a supportive team environment and offers significant exposure across the firm's core practice areas.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not are limited to the following:

With the full support of the wider Insurance BD team, you will work directly with the Department Leads and key Partners to provide the day-to-day business development and marketing support for the Property, Construction and Professional Indemnity departments (within the Insurance Group).

This will include:

Strategic planning

  • Work closely with Department Leads and key Partners to define and implement tailored business development strategies to grow our market share.
  • Create and implement BD plans to support the objectives for the Departments you support.
  • Become a trusted advisor to the Partners you'll work with, providing guidance on positioning, client engagement, and market reputation enhancement.

Campaign management

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of strategic campaigns, including brand awareness and client acquisition initiatives.
  • Develop compelling and competitive capability statements, promotional materials, and pitch content.
  • Collaborate with the Knowledge Team to horizon scan, identify market opportunities and produce thought leadership for our clients.

Profile raising

  • Guide and advise Partners and lawyers on multi-channel profile-raising tactics (including sponsorships, PR, thought leadership, and directory submissions etc)
  • Coordinate with the Events team to execute strategic events, ensuring high-quality delivery and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with the Digital and Communications teams to optimise your Departments' online presence and social media strategy.

Pursuits

  • Working with the Bids team and our Creative department, help the Partners develop winning pitches, presentations and collateral.
  • Advise your Departments on identifying, targeting and developing pursuit opportunities.

Account management

  • Take ownership of supporting the Client Relationship Partner (wider Account Team) on one of our priority clients on the Insurance Key Account Programme.

Strategic initiatives

  • Take ownership of some of our key cross-firm initiatives including supporting the development of our corporate and commercial proposition for insurance clients, leading the "Next Gen" client forum and our Female Insurance Group events programme

Reporting line:

The role reports directly to the Head of Business Development â€" Insurance

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Proven business-to-business marketing and business development experience, ideally in a professional services firm.
  • Exceptional Partner and stakeholder management skills, with a commercial and consultative approach.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, operational management, and project coordination skills.
  • Skilled in planning and executing marketing campaigns, events, and business development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to think commercially and strategically, offering innovative solutions to drive client engagement and satisfaction.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., InterAction) and familiar with digital marketing strategies.
