Description

Simmons & Simmons is a market leader in structured finance and derivative products with excellent coverage of both the buy- and the sell-side of the market. We advise many of the most active investment banks as well as asset managers and corporates and we are the derivatives adviser of choice to the European hedge fund community.

We advise on the full range of derivatives and structured products, including structured credit products (such as credit derivatives, CLNs, repackagings, CDOs/CLOs and total return swaps); structured equity products (such as equity derivatives and CFDs, equity- and fund-linked notes, certificates and warrants); interest rate, FX and inflation products; ESG linked transactions (including sustainability linked derivatives) commodity linked transactions; ETP platforms; Islamic derivatives (such as murabaha-, wa'ad- and salam-based products and advising on the ISDA/IIFM Tahawwut Master Agreement); prime brokerage and intermediation arrangements; credit risk mitigation (such as credit support, security and other collateralisation arrangements); repos and securities lending. We also advise on products linked to new and emerging asset classes, including crypto-linked products where we work closely with the firm's international FinTech team.

Our transactional teams work very closely with our regulatory lawyers to stay at the forefront of the changing regulatory landscape. By way of example, we have led industry groups on Libor transition and coordinated industry responses to consultations on recent regulatory developments in the structured products space.

The Role

We are seeking Associates to join our Structured Finance & Derivatives team to be based in either our London or Bristol offices.

The ideal candidate for both roles will have strong experience in derivatives and structured products. We are looking for two talented and technical lawyers who have ambition and aptitude to embrace our first-class client base and be a part of a large global team.

The role will offer a varied workload with the opportunity to work on cross-border matters with our global network throughout Europe, ME and APAC.

Person specification

  • Excellent academics.
  • Applicants will ideally be between 2+ PQE with derivatives and structured products experience
  • Strong client focus with an ability and willingness to get actively involved in marketing and business development.
  • Commercially driven.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
