This role sits in the wider IT Infrastructure team, which is globally
accountable for the design, implementation and 3rd line support of
Simmons & Simmons's core IT infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform tasks and duties
related to the creation and deployment of applications/packages,
builds and updates using SCCM and Intune in a Windows 10/Office 365
environment, as well as undertaking other 3rd line support and
What will you do:
Provide customized solution for complex applications that require
Conduct root cause analysis and remediation efforts on application
packaging and deployments
Create, review and maintain technical documentation in line with
the IT department's standards and policies.
Manage Task sequences, OS images, driver packages and boot images.
Maintain SCCM environment (roles, permissions, SCCM client
settings, distribution points heath across the organisation, SCCM
upgrades, WDS/PXE configuration etc.).
Troubleshooting remote site build deployments with the assistance
of regional IT and non-IT staff.
Maintain Microsoft and third-party security update deployment
process using SCCM.
Group Policy administration of Windows 10 devices / RDS.
Manage end user devices (mobile phones and Windows 10) using Intune/Autopilot.
Deploy applications via Intune.
Provide third level support.
Engage with vendors as needed to troubleshoot issues.
Documentation and communication of configuration changes in
support of change management processes.
Own and implement process and technical improvements including
process documentation and compliance improvements.
Abide by Simmons & Simmons technical governance processes as
they apply to project, incident and change management.
Develop robust working relationships with second line and regional
IT staff and disseminate information to them.
What we are looking for:
Education / qualifications / experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent
demonstrable professional experience.
Vendor qualifications related to the technologies or suppliers
within scope, such as Microsoft, ITIL, etc.
At least five years' experience in a technical analyst type role.
Knowledge and technical skills:
5+ years experience application packaging using Admin Studio/Wise
5+ years experience scripting experience utilizing one of more of
the following languages; batch, PowerShell, VBScripting, etc.
5+ years experience designing and integrating new solutions in a
large-scale enterprise environment.
5+ years experience using SCCM for remote software distribution
(including package creation and deployment), push technology for
anti-virus agents and signature files, software patches, remote
control, and remote administration of workstations.
5+ years of experience developing and deploying unattended
operating system installations for workstations/desktops/laptops
with an in-depth understanding of hardware-independent imaging capabilities.
Strong technical knowledge of Windows 10, MS 365, Active Directory.
Experience troubleshooting and enhancing desktop security and
configuration management through system registry, file system
security, Group Policy Objects (GPO) and the ability to create
Demonstrate a logical and analytical mindset, with the flexibility
to draw on a mixture of general experience and specific knowledge to
tackle the variety of challenges described in the brief.
The role includes interaction with non-technical users, so
requires an ability to relay complex topics in plain English, and
with the rigor required in a professional services environment.
Basic project management - effective at scheduling and
prioritising work, as well as in estimating effort and risk, so that
a commitment, once made, is kept.
Experienced in working with major suppliers and in managing them
to deliver to our business.
Comfortable with standard financial analysis to model or present
the cost impacts of changing and/or maintaining the solutions
covered by the role.
Comfortable coaching and mentoring more junior members of IT department.
