Description

The role:

This key role within our Productivity Applications Team will be focussed on working with our lawyers to improve their working practices through the better application and use of technology. This will include activities such as:
• Working with our lawyers & legal business analysts to analyse lawyer working practices (e.g. document production, pitch creation etc) to ascertain where and how efficiency improvements can be made through the application of technology
• Identification of the most appropriate technologies to deliver the required improvements
• The design, build and test of solutions, working with our lawyers to ensure any solution built is fit for purpose and can be easily adopted
• Supporting our lawyers with the wider and better use of existing solutions to ensure that software is being adopted and used effectively
• Providing training on software solutions and support the hand over to support teams.

What will you do:

• Work with Business Partners, Business Analysts, Project Managers, IT and process SMEs and internal stakeholders (Partners, Associates and Professional Support Lawyers) across the firm's offices to ensure that the services offered fully meet their needs.
• Engage with Business Partners and Management to manage and prioritise work
• Deconstruct legal business processes into their component parts and assess suitability for automation
• Improve the quality and consistency of document production, to increase firm efficiency and to improve the effectiveness of our client offerings.
• Design, build and test automation solutions, using techniques that enable users to make further efficiency improvements and easily maintain their working practices themselves (e.g. automate document production using clause banks)
• Support the administration and organisation of the Firm's standard document collection
• Create and maintain templates using the Firm's template management tool
• Thoroughly review own and others' work to ensure that formatting is correct and ensure all documents are presentation, grammar and spell checked
• Complete all aspects of documentation following the production process and manage the transition of the automated document to production (including user and support staff training)

What we are looking for:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in application or infrastructure support
• A good understanding Microsoft Word to MOS Word Expert level (essential)
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook (essential)
• A good working knowledge of iManage (optional)
• A good working knowledge of BigHand Outline or Legal Template Management applications (optional - training will be given if the right candidate does not have experience of the template management software).
• A strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas (beneficial)
• A working knowledge of SQL Query and PowerShell reading and writing
• A working knowledge of programming or scripting languages including VBA (beneficial, training can be given.)
• A working knowledge Power Apps (bonus)
• Exceptional communication skills
• Exposure to project and change processes
