Our FS Reg - Cross Border Unit team have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join their growing department. This role would suit analytically minded candidates with strong excel skills and the ability to handle and structure data.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated paralegal resource to our cross-border clients, including many of the world's largest financial institutions.
  • Working closely with associates, consultants, the wider paralegal team, partners, senior management and trainees within the Financial Services Regulatory Group to deliver ongoing managed services and ad-hoc projects.
  • Working closely with Simmons' global network of local counsel firms in c 150 jurisdictions to deliver ongoing managed services and ad-hoc projects.
  • Building strong relationships across the group, the wider firm, with clients and with local counsel
  • Working in an organised and structured way in-line with our cross-border processes and procedures.
  • Identifying and implementing changes that will improve the efficient running of our cross-border operations.
  • Analysing, collating and summarising large quantities of information.
  • Researching points of law and regulation, and other factual issues and preparing reports and summaries as required.
  • Providing general administrative and legal support to the wider team and organisation as required. This may include, among other things, assistance with the preparation pitches; mobilisation of new projects; reviewing of commercial arrangements with clients and counsel; client billing and external cost management; tracking and reporting of active matters, both for internal and client stakeholders; proof reading.

Person specification

Education / qualifications / experience:

  • Graduate with a first or upper second class degree or equivalent.
  • Previous Paralegal / Legal Analyst experience

Knowledge and technical skills:

  • Intermediate level of skill with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Familiarity with legal software systems eg time recording, document compare, filing systems.

General skills:

  • Highly organised and methodical approach.
  • Confidence with IT systems.
  • Ability to structure and analyse data in Excel.
  • Attention to detail and the confidence to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Highly motivated and commercially astute.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, reliable and works well under pressure.
