Formalities Assistant
Squire Patton Boggs is seeking a
Formalities Assistant to support Patent Attorneys and Patent agents
in the preparation of intellectual property related documents. The
Formalities Assistant will lend support for client portfolio
management, work cohesively with team members to ensure efficient
support of timekeepers, administrative tasks, and client service. To
perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The responsibilities and
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

Responsibilities
Attending to reminders for and payment
of patent annuities.
Preparing assignment and declaration
documents and coordinating signatures on the documents.
Submitting assignment, declaration, and
other formal documents with the Patent Office.
Preparing and filing Information
Disclosure Statements.
Processing and reporting official
documents (Office Actions, filing receipts, publication notices,
Notices of Recordation, etc.).
Preparing and Filing Responses to
Administrative Notices from United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Tracking and sending foreign filing reminders.
Billing, records database, and other
administrative tasks.
Requirements
A minimum of 2 years Patent Formalities
or Patent Secretarial experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents
such as operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence.
Ability to maintain a high level of
accuracy, superior attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to speak effectively before
groups of employees of the firm and demonstrate excellent customer
service skills.
Ability to calculate figures and apply
concepts of basic algebra and business math.
Ability to solve practical problems and
deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
form.
