Description
The Washington DC office of Squire
Patton Boggs (US) LLP seeks a full-time trade paralegal to support
its International Trade practice. The successful candidate will have
at least 5-7 years of experience in international trade matters.
This role is a hybrid working arrangement. Potential candidates must
be onsite 3-days per week.
Skills/Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in
international trade matters.
Bachelor's degree required;
graduate level degree in relevant field (international business,
accounting, economics, international affairs) is a plus.
Strong analytical and research skills.
Demonstrated excellent
communication, grammar, and organizational skills.
Ability to complete assigned tasks
with attention to detail; work with teams and under pressure; and
meet deadlines.
Ability to navigate various online
electronic filings with government agencies.
Commitment to maintaining
confidentiality of client and office information.
Responsibilities
Proof-read, edit, and cite check
case briefs and other filings.
Preparation of exhibits and public
versions of business proprietary information.
Submission of filings to courts
such as the ITC, DOC, and CIT via their respective e-filing sites.
Reach out to clerks of the court
for information regarding filings.
Prepare and file Section 232
Exclusion Requests and maintain a record of all request status.
Direct client communication
regarding new requests, and email correspondence with BIS and CBP.
Legal research for both regulatory
content and trade remedy litigation.
Preparation of client alerts and
emails regarding new regulatory information.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Professional Experience
5-7 years meaningful experience in
a law firm or government position.
Trade remedy experience at the U.S.
Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration (ITA)
is a particular plus.
Customs compliance and enforcement
matters at Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Forced labor (UFLPA).
Intellectual property theft, and/or
illicit technology procurement and sanctions violations at
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Department of
Homeland Security.
Section 232 exclusions and protests
at CBP/DOC.
Section 301 investigations (Relief
from Unfair Trade Practices).
