Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP is currently seeking a Patent Attorney
with two to four years of experience to join our Intellectual Property
and Technology practice. This position will be based in our Washington
DC office
The position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated patent
prosecution and technical analysis work relating to computer hardware,
computer software, telecommunications, electrical, electromechanical,
and automotive technologies.
Responsibilities include mid-level patent work such as drafting,
filing, and prosecuting US patent applications, managing and
coordinating international patent application strategies, preparing
patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions, and overall
intellectual property counseling.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
U.S. Juris Doctorate Degree
Admission to the District of Columbia Bar is expected if not
currently admitted.
Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree or advanced
degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or
similar background.
Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications is also required.
Experience in drafting patentability, non-infringement, and
invalidity opinions, as well as general client counseling in
Intellectual Property issues, is considered a plus.
Qualities, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Two to four years of experience practicing patent law and proven
ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others
on complex matters.
Demonstrated experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Strong legal writing skills are essential.
Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and oral.
Consistently excellent judgment is essential.
Must be a self-starter, have the ability to prioritize workload,
and work well under pressure.
Experience and skill in analyzing patents is strongly preferred.
We would also consider suitably experienced Patent Agents for this role.
