Talent Acquisition Manager

Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition, US, the Talent Acquisition Manager will be responsible for managing all non-partner attorney recruiting, US law student recruiting and the US summer associate program.

This position will be resident in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dallas, Miami, or Washington D.C. with a hybrid in-office working schedule.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Lateral Partner & Associate Hiring

  • Support the execution of the US lateral partner hiring strategy in collaboration with the Global Director of Talent Acquisition and the Director of Talent Acquisition, along with the practice group leaders and sponsor partners.
  • Manage internal hiring process including identifying and managing relationships with search firms, internal briefings, business case development and interviews through to collation of feedback.
  • Develop relationship with candidates and, as one of their main points of contact, guide them through the recruitment and with partner candidates, election process.
  • Ensure hiring process is managed efficiently and that appropriate data is captured e.g., interview feedback, business plans, LPQs and other due diligence processes to support decision making.
  • Analyze recruiting trends and implement strategies to directly source lateral associates.
  • Collaborate with firmwide support departments to ensure consistency, and to share resourceful and creative programming.
  • Provide leadership and supervise the recruiting administrator, as well as other support staff indirectly.
  • Ensure compliance with the firm's hiring policies.

Law School Recruitment

  • Partner with SPB Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and the Lawyer Personnel Committee to develop and implement recruiting strategies at target law schools.
  • Drive efforts to increase firm visibility at target law schools.
  • Develop and foster law school career services and search firm relationships.
  • Working with hiring partners and offices/practices to agree the number of summer associates to be recruited for each office.
  • Manages law school recruitment and the On-Campus Interview (OCI) process.

Summer Associate Program

  • Provide details of summer associates to
    • US HR and office teams, to ensure they have the required information for on-boarding purposes.
    • L&D so they can prepare the summer associate academy for offices who will have summer associates.
    • LPC so they can work with the offices/practices regarding work allocation and evaluation processes.

Experience and qualifications needed to perform this job successfully:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of law firm recruiting experience, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity; the equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of high-volume legal recruiting programs.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Team player who is committed to superior standards of professionalism and productivity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure.
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential information.
  • Detail-oriented work manner, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and flexible approach, and willingness to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Available and willing to travel, attend events and to work hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with CV Mail is preferred.

Our global HR team consists of our core generalist HR team (responsible for our lawyer, policy advisor, support staff and secretarial staff populations), Learning & Development, Emerging Talent, Projects, Talent Acquisition, HRIS, Payroll and Rewards & Benefits. We work closely and collaboratively with other people functions including LPC and the Office of DEI.
