Our Milan office is looking for a full-time Accounting Assistant.

Squire Patton Boggs employs approximately 3000 staff. Milan is a branch of Squire Patton Boggs (UK) LLP. Currently there are approx. 35 personnel in Milan, with plans to expand.

Job Purposes

Based in Milan and reporting to the Milan Office Manager, the individual is responsible for the local finance operations. This role will be supported by the wider finance team based in the UK as well as a local external accountant.

This role requires an individual with experience in finance with an eye for detail, self motivated and able to work alongside fee earners, secretaries and across borders.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Working with partners, fee earners and assistants to ensure WIP is converted into bills in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the partners, fee earners and assistants in the cash collection of Accounts Receivable.
  • Managing the Accounts Payable process from invoice/expenses receipt, coding, approvals through to payment.
  • Liaising with the UK Finance Team who prepare the monthly accounts and inputting into the cash flow management process.
  • Working with the external accountant who manages the local statutory and tax reporting for complete and timely submissions.
  • Support the Milan Office Manager as required.

Person Specification

  • Qualification - At least three years' experience working in a finance function.
  • IT knowledge/skills - Competent with desk-top and Microsoft packages (word and excel). Comprehensive in-house training will be provided.
  • Flexibility - Confident self-starter who can work in a team environment and support colleagues as required. Flexible regarding additional hours and occasional travel as the occasion demands.
  • Interpersonal skills - An effective communicator, comfortable working at a detailed level, helpful, resourceful, and experienced in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Language skills - Italian and English mandatory.
