The opportunity

We are looking for a talented Marketing & Business Development (MBD) Assistant to join Bird & Bird's Ireland team on an initial 11 month fixed term contract. We're looking for someone with ideas and enthusiasm and an ability to take ownership of their tasks and projects, with a keen sense of collaboration and teamwork.

You will be reporting to the MBD Manager for Ireland and collaborate with the global team across all Practice & Sector Groups globally.

The role will be varied, covering a whole spectrum of activities that our thriving MBD team undertake every day, from digital marketing, research, events, social media, client development and many, many more.

You will work with a fantastic and talented team of professionals who make it their business to nurture and develop talent, providing you with skills that you will take with you throughout your career. You will get great on the job training and will be eligible for professional training courses offered by our external partners and our internal Learning and Development team.

The office

Bird & Bird brings a world of possible. The Bird & Bird office in Ireland opened in June 2022. We now have 5 partners (commercial, litigation, IP, corporate, and data protection),14 associates and trainees, along with a range of business services people working in the office. We are building an employment practice. The growth of the office since it opened has been dynamic and above the firm's expectations. The firm and the office are determined to make the next steps in its growth trajectory.

What you'll do

The main duties and responsibilities for the role are as follows:

  • Assisting the Ireland MBD manager with several events - client training/meetings, Dinners, seminars, sponsorships
  • Promoting events across all social media platforms
  • Supporting event preparation, ensuring that value is derived and recorded.
  • Inputting content into Vuture (newsletter and event invite software) and sending out mailings.
  • Inputting and managing content in CRM, including list management for mailings and events.
  • Supporting basic reporting from CRM including preparing relationship maps and dashboards
  • Extracting information from pitch
  • management system into relevant marketing & business development materials
  • Using the CRM and research platforms to prepare packs for MBD purposes (client research, prospect identification and ad hoc marketing research projects)
  • Supporting the development of internal and client-facing Newsletters
  • Producing excellent and up-to-date marketing materials (e.g. brochures, flyers, social media posts etc).
  • Assisting in the preparation and co-ordination of legal directories and award submissions and effective publication of rankings and client testimonials
  • Monitoring and responding to general BD queries.

About you

This is an entry level position. The successful candidate will have an interest in Marketing & Business Development, and possess the following skills:

Administration:

  • Ability to deal with high level of workloads and changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Communication:

  • Experience or interest in working in a professional environment and offering excellent customer service to stakeholders.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels.

Team working:

  • Willingness to work as part of a team with a positive attitude.
  • Flexible and collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Open to change
  • A self-starter

IT/System skills:

  • Comfortable in the digital environment and willing to learn how to use new systems.
  • IT skills in Word and Excel
  • Experience using content management systems.
  • Experience using email marketing tools.
  • Editor abilities in Photoshop or other image processing tools

The main responsibilities of this role are outlined above; however, this description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Bird & Bird in Ireland operates a hybrid working environment. The current guideline is to attend the office at least 2 days per week.
