We are looking for a Junior Associate to join our fast-growing team
in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the wider IP
team and assist our clients, across a range of technically complex
industries to reach commercial solutions to the legal issues they
face. There will be plenty of opportunities for career development
within our fast growing team in Dublin.
The office
The Bird & Bird office in Ireland opened in June 2022. We now
have 5 partners (commercial, litigation, IP, corporate, and data
protection),14 associates, trainees and paralegals, along with a range
of business services people working in the office. We are building an
employment practice this year. The growth of the office since it
opened has been dynamic and above the firm's expectations. The firm
and the office are determined to make the next steps in its growth trajectory.

The IP team
The IP team is part of one of the largest international teams and it
is highly regarded. In London the IP team is ranked as band 1 in both
Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. The team has unparalleled
contentious and non-contentious capabilities in relation to all IP
rights, trademarks, patents, copyright and database rights,
confidential information and data privacy. We advise on IP protection,
enforcement, strategic management, valuation and monetisation of IP
portfolios. Because of our broad remit our clients are an eclectic mix
of the diverse and traditional.
What you'll do
As a member of this growing team and office the individual will be
expected to:
advise on the full range of IPRs, trademarks, designs and
copyright issues.
develop a first-class litigation service to our clients.
assist the IP Partners to develop the practice and
support the strategic objectives of the firm.
You will also have the opportunity to help with a range of business
development activities by developing client relationships and growing
your network with other Bird & Bird offices, such as short-term secondments.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
You will need to bring excellent academic achievement with a strong
desire to develop a technical knowledge of IP law, including:
Some experience in handling complex IP litigation is desirable
within a comparable environment.
A desire to be working in a truly international firm and to be
operating in a team-based environment.
A clear understanding of the operation and structure of a
commercial law firm.
In addition, we expect all our Associates to demonstrate:
Flexibility, supporting cases across a broad range of IP
litigation issues and jurisdictions.
The ability to work on complex IP matters at an appropriate level,
working efficiently and effectively alongside more senior associates
and the Partners.
Demonstrate an appreciation of client needs and priorities.
Demonstrate knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear,
precise, practical drafting and advice.
The ability to liaise effectively with other fee earners within
the group, and to liaise and coordinate with fee earners from other
relevant disciplines and jurisdictions as required.
Delegation and supervisory skills where appropriate.
Being keen to work in a challenging, team-based environment.
The willingness and ability to support business development activity.
A commitment to regularly update their own technical expertise and
to achieve continuous improvement and development.
The ability to use social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter)
to broadcast or amplify messages and to connect with external contacts/networks.
