Bird & Bird's Competition & EU Law
team in Brussels is looking to recruit as soon as possible a traineewith a passion for EU competition law and a keen
interest in EU trade defence law for a six-month
contract. Excellent English is essential; fluent Dutch
and/or French is an advantage.
About the team
Bird & Bird's ā€ˇCompetition & EU Law Group counts more than 50
specialist competition lawyers across our 31 offices. Our team has
significant industry expertise in key sectors of the firm, including
technology, communications, IT, aviation, automotive, electronicsā€ˇ,
energy and many others.
Our Brussels Competition and Trade practice is part of that Group and
deals with high-profile matters in all fields of EU and national
competition and EU trade law including cartels, abusive conduct,
merger control and State aid. We also have vast experience in EU
litigation. Our Brussels-based trade team helps clients navigate EU
trade defence matters including anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations.
Our practice is currently handling high-profile assignments before
the European Commission and the European courts and various national
authorities. Our competition and trade practice is closely integrated
with our Public Affairs practice which provides strategic policy
advice to multinational clients in Brussels and beyond.
Becoming a trainee at Bird & Bird is the

experience. You will contribute to cutting-edge cases across a broad
range of sectors of industry from day one;
You will assist our competition and trade
lawyers in their day to day assignments. For example, you will have
the opportunity to draft submissions and memoranda as well as
researching a wide variety of issues;
You will be actively involved in marketing
and business development initiatives (such as client alerts and publications);
You will build your skills, develop your
knowledge from our legal experts and their feedback on your work, and;

Your profile
We would be interested in hearing from you
if you have:
A law degree that's backed up by
strong academic results; an LL.M. in EU (competition/trade)
law or an internship in DG COMP or a national competition authority
is an advantage is an advantage;
An excellent command of English, both orally
and in writing; fluent Dutch and/or French is an advantage;
Strong analytical skills;
A commitment to delivering high-quality work;
A desire to be working hand-in-hand with
members of our internal team as well as other practice groups around
the globe, in a truly internationally integrated law firm; and
An appetite for business development activities.
