Bird & Bird's Regulatory & Public Affairs practice in Brussels is recruiting an advisor.

Bird & Bird is an international law firm that established a Regulatory & Public Affairs practice in its Brussels office in 2018. We spend a great deal of our time analysing our clients' sectors, anticipating trends and assessing the impact of regulatory and policy changes.

How will you make your mark?

By providing advice and support in the following areas:

  • Monitor and analyse intelligence on EU regulatory and policy developments that affect our clients' businesses, with a focus on EU Technology, Communications and Media regulation, as well as supporting our financial services, competition and trade practices;
  • Be part of a Regulatory & Public Affairs team with the opportunity to carry out substantial work on behalf of exciting, international clients;
  • Be actively involved in marketing and business development initiatives such as client alerts, webinars and in-person seminars;
  • Coordinate and draft articles for our monthly client newsletters on tech policy developments at EU level;
  • Gain experience of presenting policy issues during our international practice groups calls and participating in client meetings;

What are we looking for?

  • You have a thorough understanding of EU Regulatory & Public Affairs and at least one to two years of experience working in the EU institutions, a Member State representation, a European trade association or a consultancy.
  • You have a relevant university degree, such as a Master's degree in European studies, politics, international relations, law or economics.
  • You have a (near-)native level of English and excellent drafting skills, along with command of at least one other major EU language, both orally and in writing.
  • You have the ability to build a network of contacts in the EU institutions and industry stakeholders.
  • You have strong analytical and research skills and are committed to delivering high-quality work. You are ready to roll up your sleeves together with our team around the globe, and fit in well with our open, entrepreneurial culture.
  • You have a strong appetite for business development activities to further develop our Regulatory & Public Affairs practice.
