About us

Our mission is to help clients to realise the value of their ideas in a digital age. For more information, see www.wiggin.co.uk.

Our firm is on a sustained upwards trajectory and has doubled in size, both in revenue terms and lawyer numbers since 2015. Recent milestones on our path to becoming the destination law firm for a digital world includes the combination with computer games law firm, Purewal & Partners, and the launch of a new telecoms team, and expanding our Brussels office with local experts.

Our culture is unique among law firms - both in what we expect from our people and the way we create value in the industries we serve. We empower people, expect commitment and excellence, and celebrate when we achieve it.

Our values are at the heart of everything that we do and define Wiggin as a workplace: being visionary, authentic, unified, responsible and excellent across-the-board.

There isn't a typical Wiggin person. We aim to build teams that are diverse in thought, perspective and experience to provide a more rounded service to our internal and external clients.

The team

Wiggin has the largest dedicated online gambling team of any UK law firm and our gambling lawyers have many collective years of experience in representing the largest and most successful business-to-business and business-to-consumer companies in the industry. We also advise media businesses, brand owners, payment processors and other service suppliers that are today connected with the sector.

We have unrivalled gambling regulatory, commercial and M&A expertise - many of our experts are ranked as leading individuals in the UK and global legal directories.

The team assists stakeholders across the gambling ecosystem on all their day-to-day legal, regulatory and compliance requirements as well as working on complex projects and strategic advisory matters. Outside our core gambling team, our tax, technology, advertising, brand protection, litigation, data protection, employment and property specialists regularly advise gambling businesses.

Much of the work is cross-border in nature. The team has a comprehensive international network of best of breed gambling firms and deep and long-established relationships with the regulators in all the major European licensing hubs.

Our regulatory work involves: helping clients remain up-to-date and compliant in the face of evolving regulatory changes in the UK market; handling regulatory enforcement actions; and advising major industry players on their risk strategy in respect of unregulated markets, helping them to navigate the complexity of international legislation and conflicts of law on a global basis.

Our commercial work involves advising on a wide variety of contractual arrangements, including: software licensing; content/game development and supply contracts; cutting-edge technology projects in new areas such as AI, VR and blockchain; white label arrangements between media or marketing businesses with gambling operators; preparing bespoke terms and conditions for suppliers and operators; customer promotions and related advertising advice; merchandising, sponsorships and endorsement deals and payment processing agreements.

The team works closely with our corporate lawyers on commercial and regulatory aspects of deals (including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and investments). The team has been involved with many of the most significant transactions in the sector in recent years.
