As an Senior Associate at Travers Smith, you will be
given a significant amount of client contact and responsibility
whilst working in a collaborative environment to provide advice and
assistance to high quality clients.
Key Responsibilities
Whilst workloads will vary, an Employment Senior
Associate will typically spend around 80-85% of their time on
contentious and advisory work and 15-20% of their time on
transactional support. Typical work includes the following:
High Court litigation (e.g. team moves and bonus claims).
Workplace investigations.
Working with our dispute resolution team on other investigations.
Strike ballots and union activities.
Contentious advice
Senior exits and settlement agreements.
Restrictive covenant breaches, planning team moves.
Other contentious advice (e.g. grievances, disciplinaries).
Other advisory
Change projects (e.g. redundancy and TUPE processes,
both UK focussed and international)
Contracts, bonus schemes and handbooks
Business immigration
Other ad hoc advice (e.g. gender pay gap reporting,
holiday pay, furlough)
Training and horizon scanning
Cross-departmental and/or transactional support
Corporate: deals, investee company executive exits, IPOs.
Commercial: on outsourcings, GDPR.
Real estate: TUPE issues.
With an ability to demonstrate versatility and work in
an advisory and strategic capacity, this role offers the opportunity
to work with the firm's diverse range of clients.
Person Specification - Mandatory
Knowledge, Skills & Experience required
An outstanding academic record.
Qualified Solicitor in a Common Law jurisdiction.
Competent in advising on all aspects of Employment law.
Experience of working in both an advisory and
strategic capacity.
Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
An ability to demonstrate proactivity in a proficient manner.
A team player who thrives working within a collegiate
environment; and
A willingness to show commitment and engagement to
the firm's culture.
